Image Analysis for Digital Media Applications

Image analysis plays an important role in many digital media applications. This article presents an overview of image analysis techniques for image enhancement and restoration, image and video compression, computer animation, multimedia data retrieval, document imaging, and electronic books. The article also includes a summary of existing image analysis algorithms and a discussion of future research problems.
