E-Books and the Future of Reading
May/June 2000 (vol. 20 no. 3)
pp. 32-39
E-books are a fairly recent phenomenon. These small, portable, electronic devices are tailored to better match the tasks and needs of people reading documents, books, magazines, and news in digital formats. This article looks at trends in technology, discusses current design issues, and anticipates future prospects for the e-book arena. All of these factors depend on how people read and what electronic format - if any - will best serve their needs for digital reading tools.
