Don Black's grandfather, Walter D. Jones, was an executive at IBM. Black contacted the IBM Corporate Archives to find out more about his grandfather's working life. They sent an article written by Jones in 1944, titled "Personal Observations and Comments Concerning the History and Development of IBM: The Perspective of Walter D. Jones." For Annals, Black edited the article, added sidebars, and rearranged Jones' stories chronologically.
